There are so many gimmicks out there for making ‘easy money’. And even as a mom influencer/blogger the common misconception is that it’s easy money to blog & create social content. 

So let me be real with you.

Writing blogs, creating content and developing a social network is a lot of work and yes, requires a lot of investment (time/money).

I always tend to skim right over anyone who claims to know the best way to generate passive income. Here are the biggest schemes to avoid:

Crypto currency is a scam – don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. 

My husband got really into it a few years ago. He spent hours (sooo many hours) and even invested financially. Thankfully we didn’t lose money BUT we lost time which IS money. Don’t do it. Crypto currency WAS lucrative for initial investors but anyone investing now is about 10 years too late.

Network marketing schemes 

There are a lot of them. You really need to do your due diligence to make sure it will benefit you and your family. Sure, if you use the products and you can get a discount that might be the upside to it. But most of these companies require an annual fee or registration package to start up and unless you have an existing network of friends/family to flog the product to, it really becomes a sales position where you aren’t being paid for your time but just paid commission. 

Brand ambassadors/Amazon affiliates etc

This seems like the new ‘network marketing scheme’ where they utilize your existing connections to flog products. And yes, like network marketing products it might benefit you if you use the products you’re flogging but most moms who I know are brand ambassadors aren’t using this as a primary stream of income but rather a means to develop their social platform growth. Amazon affiliate or having an amazon shop can be lucrative IF you are already consistent with your community of followers. 

In my perspective, the best way to make money is doing something that you love. Merging your passions and interests with something that might earn you money can be beneficial if you are strategic about it.

But as with all things, it requires a time investment into planning and strategizing. 

So is there really ONE best way to make easy money for moms? 

No, not really. Plus it really depends on the stage of motherhood you’re in. And why you want/need to make money.

Passive income is something that is developed over time. And unfortunately in the early stages of motherhood time is lacking. You are better off getting paid somewhere you can clock in and clock out – it becomes more like a break in the mom-role too!

If you are thinking more long term, it might be more beneficial to take a self-paced course. There are remote positions in administration, digital marketing and social media but I’m already seeing a saturation of these services being offered (unless you have specific niche skills/experiences).
