As a first time mom I’ve worked hard to build up my confidence. I’m not talking about reading about how to prepare for babies or sleep training. I’m talking about feeling ENOUGH to be who I am and raise my baby.
It can be so nerve wracking to know that a little life depends on you. The worst are the critical comments made by family members or judgemental posts on social media. As a new mom I felt like I was already dealing with so much yet the feeling of not doing enough was constant.
When Maya was younger, every woman who was decades older than me assumed they were THE authority in parenting. I was told how to hold my baby, feed my baby, put my baby to sleep so she would act a certain way.
And then the #momguilt. I felt guilty asking for time to shower when my husband came home after work. I felt guilty for being too tired to make dinner. I felt guilty for wanting to sleep in.
There are so many negative feelings that can surface within the first 12+ months as a new mom.
I’ve partnered with Postalist, a mama-led small business, to help empower us moms to feel a little bit better about ourselves and our day.
As moms, we are enough. We are doing enough.
We definitely need to be reminded more often and sometimes that reminder is extra meaningful when it’s something we can see in our hands or something we can post up.
Postalist is a subscription service sending words of encouragement and reminders of worth to your mailbox every month. For as little as $5.50/month I highly recommend you subscribe to THIS kind of self-care.

Girl, I truly thought it was just me going through times like this with family members. It was older people and people may age and below! Throughout the past year and change, I’ve been working on not taking suggestions to heart, and just taking away whatever I find value in. You’re doing amazing! I will check out this brand, and I hope to see them on Insta!
It’s so great to know other mamas have gone through the same. It’s reassuring!
